Steve Woods Managing Director Detectronic

Steve’s involvement with the water industry began in 1985 when he joined the early Detectronic in Technical Sales with responsibilities for product and market development.

He later became Sales Director then in 1989, Managing Director. Steve spent several years at Technolog in the late 1990s with rôles in business-development and general management. In 2007, driven by Dave Walker’s unfailing enthusiasm and commitment, Steve, Dave and Gerry re-established Detectronic Ltd.

Dave Walker

Sales Director


David began his career in the Water Industry in 1990 as a field Service Technician for Detectronic. With qualifications initially in Electronics he later gained a BSc Hons from Sheffield Hallam University in Environmental Management.

Throughout his career David has worked in and around the Water and Process Industries. At Detectronic, he continues to work with our clients in the water, manufacturing and process industries who have a requirement to monitor Waste-water flows in both the Sewerage networks and Industrial Trade Effluent discharges.

Gerry Burby

Technical Director

Gerry joined the early Detectronic in 1973 as part of the R&D team which developed and patented Ultrasonic Doppler measurement techniques which resulted in the Doppler Speedlog.

This was an instrument which measured the Velocity of a boat’s hull as it passed through water. Gerry was instrumental in the development of Detectronic’s first Intrinsically-Safe datalogging Sewer Flow Monitor. Gerry was later the Senior Applications Engineer for Buhler-Montec, then Hach-Lange until 2003. His skills and experience have been invaluable in his role as Technical Director for the new Detectronic Ltd.
