Golf Day fund-raiser for WaterAid UK
Sewer network and industrial effluent monitoring experts, Detectronic, has supported a second sporting events to raise money for the water industry charity, WaterAid.
Held on Saturday 9th July 2016 at Sheffield’s Birley Wood Golf Course, Detectronic fielded a strong team. As well as a ‘Four man am-am’ competition that allows players of all levels to participate yet still allows the best players and the team as a whole to be competitive, the day incuded refreshments and a raffle.
This event and the Severn Trent Clay Shoot a week earlier, follows Detectronic’s recent fund raising efforts when they raised £1,000 from money saved by sending e-Christmas cards, rather than posting printed cards, and from sales of a book entitled “The Seven Wonders of the Industrial World” by Deborah Cadbury. One of the ‘wonders’ was a chapter about the construction of the London sewer system by engineer Joseph Bazalgette. This book is still available from Detectronic – to find out more click here.
WaterAid wants everyone, everywhere to have access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene by 2030. This is an aim that’s linked to several of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, including improving water and sanitation, removing poverty and empowering women who are particularly affected by poor sanitation. Detectronic is pleased to be supporting this highly important work.
